GRAND CHUTE – A local Japanese restaurant has quietly closed its doors.
Osaka Japanese Steak House and Sushi, at 4421 W. Wisconsin Ave., closed in late March. The restaurant, which served Japanese cuisine including sushi and hibachi, was located just north of the Fox River Mall.
A “closed” sign appeared on the property’s front door earlier this month. After Osaka closed, its kitchen equipment and restaurant supplies were offered in an auction by Hansen Auction Group. The auction — which is referred to as the “Osaka Restaurant & Bar Retirement Auction” on Hansen’s website — ran from March 30 through April 13.
The restaurant’s phone number has been disconnected, but Osaka is still listed as open on Google and Facebook. Osaka’s Facebook page remains active, though the business hasn’t posted on it recently.
Osaka’s owners couldn’t be reached for comment. Calls to Neenah-based Hansen Auction Group were not immediately returned.
Osaka Japanese Steak House and Sushi was not affiliated with the similarly named Osaka Japanese Hibachi Steakhouse and Sushi Bar, a restaurant chain in Florida.
